Float Down the Scenic Brazos River

The Brazos River is a popular stream for those wanting to go canoeing and inner tubing. There are several entry and exit points along the river. A convenient entry point is at the Hwy 67 Bridge, not far from either the Rhodes or the Low Water Bridge Canoe Rental stores. Trips can vary from 2 to 4 hours to all weekend. Flow varies depending upon rainfall and the rate of release from Lake Granbury. A contributor to provided this description of the river below Hwy 67: "This stretch of river is lined with limestone bluffs, ridges and hills covered with live oaks, elms, cedars, bois darcs and pecan trees. There are plentiful gravel bars to camp on. On some stretches there are freestanding rock formations out in the river." On multi-day trips, canoers can find a gravel bar on which to camp.
